Ever since creating a solo Instagram apart from the Chloe x Halle page, Chloe Bailey has been living it up by sharing stunning photos, getting in on internet challenges, and more. While we love seeing another side of the talented singer, unfortunately, she’s also been encountering her fair share of trolls. On Sunday, the 22-year-old addressed some of the comments she’s been receiving, which condemn her for being “too sexy” on social media.
“For every woman out there, don’t change who you are to make society feel comfortable,” she said in an Instagram Live video. “And I’m telling myself that’s not what I’m going to do.” She then addressed one specific video that she posted, which shows her saging her room in just a t-shirt. “Even when I posted the video yesterday, I posted it because I was saging and doing Palo Santo and I was like, ‘Let’s spread positive vibes.'”

She noted that she didn’t even think people would be commenting on her appearance when she shared the clip. “I feel like I’ve shown my *ss more than I have with that, like if you look at our performance videos, the last performance we had in December. Like, I was just so excited and on stage, and just being myself,” she explained. “I just felt it was important to address it, so you guys get to kind of know who I am inside. It’s really hard for me to think of myself as sexual being or an attractive being quite frankly. So, when I see all the uproar about my posts and stuff, I’m a bit confused. Like, I really don’t understand because I’ve never seen myself in that way.” She also made it clear that she’s not posting on social media to get attention or approval from others. “I don’t need outside attention,” she said through tears. “You all see what I’m posting is just me being me. I just hope you can see who I am and that’s it.”
It didn’t take long for the internet to have Chloe’s back on the situation. For starters, Chloe is a grown woman. If she wants to post a cute video of her saging her room in just a t-shirt or a sultry selfie, then more power to her! Seriously, why does society praise young white celebrities like Kendall and Kylie Jenner for their thirst traps, but then turn around and attack Black women like Chloe? Like she said herself, she shouldn’t feel the need to police her body to make other people feel more comfortable.
Not to mention, it’s her social media account. Now that she’s created a profile apart from the Chloe x Halle brand, she’s more than welcome to use it how she wants. And you know what? If you don’t like it, you have the option not to watch or follow. Why go the extra mile to comment on a post and reduce someone to tears? Let Chloe live her life!
