With 62 million households binging The Queen’s Gambit in its first 28 days on Netflix, I know more than a few of us were watching for character Beth Harmon’s style. As Beth proves more proficient on the international chess stage, she also increases her wardrobe budget with covetable looks from the ’50s and ’60s. Many are inspired by Audrey Hepburn. The show is set during the golden age of travel, when PanAm ruled the airways and, as evidenced by Beth and her mother, martinis flowed.
People really dressed up to travel during that time.
