Civil rights activist and professor Dr. Angela Davis collaborated with Los Angeles clothing brand Renowned to create a two-piece capsule, which expands on the brand’s “Heroes Of Blackness” collection. Preorders are available now, and part of the proceeds will go toward abolitionist organizations Underground Grit and Dream Defenders.
Angela Davis X Renowned includes a unisex black t-shirt ($35) and black hoodie ($75) featuring artwork by independent Black artists. “Working with Dr. Davis has been surreal. She has dedicated her life to Black liberation. This collection will be a piece of history for her and all who stood against oppression. It’s only right that I continue her legacy,” Renowned said on Instagram. “For our Angela Davis x Renowned Collab, we worked with a few independent Black artist to create images surrounding the feeling and idea of the collaboration . . .This piece is by @tara.light who hails from Kenya. The goal here was to create a collage of symbols that represent the movement and those who have come before us.”
